At HRS clocks we constantly receive e-mails enquiring about the purchase of spare parts or items such as suspensions, mainsprings, etc. These are items that we purchase ourselves for our own repairs / restoration and can be obtained from clock material house see the repair above.

We specialise in repairs and restoration, the parts we make at HRS clocks consists of anything that is broken or missing that cannot be obtained from material houses.

We do however specialise in repair and restoration which involves making anything that is broken or missing on an antique clock that cannot be obtained from material houses An example of this would be wheels and pinions and most of the items we make are for antiques.

We are also being asked to provide valuations from written descriptions. This is not possible as we would need to view the article physically, as would any other reputable company.

HRSclocks clock repair workshop

At the repairs / restoration workshop the most delicate of work and restoration to antique Clocks, Barometers, Barographs and Musical Boxes is undertaken.

All work is carried out on site including dial re-silvering / dial restoration. Only painted dials are contracted out to a renowned and trusted painted dial restorer. Missing or broken parts are made and styled to the original item being worked on using materials i.e. steel and brass that best suits the age of the item. We do not therefore stock spare parts as each item is individually made to suit the mechanism that is being worked on whether it be for a Clock, Barometer / Barograph or Musical Box, it is

made to a bespoke pattern.

If you have an Antique Clock that requires a new or missing part or the repairing of a broken item then please contact us by phone for a guide to the cost of the work you require. Should you find our quote acceptable and go ahead we will, in most cases, need the full movement to work from which will be cleaned and restored at the same time.

Repairs and Restoration to quality Antiques can take some time as the article is going through the process of cleaning, repairing and careful rebuild. Please be patient! See the links above We use a high quality, very thin Jewellery lacquer for the polished visible parts including back plates / pendulum etc. This is a long lasting, hard, clear lacquer in a two part mix. It is not brushed on or sprayed from an Aerosol

Most of our work is received mainly from the local area of Gr. Manchester ,Cheshire and Derbyshire, avoiding the need for posting. However, should you live outside our local area we are happy to accept items and movements that have been posted to us and a lot of the time we will not require the clock case , weights or pendulum. i.e. Grandfather / Longcase clock, saving on postage of very heavy items. Other options are to use an insured courier service or you can deliver and collect the item yourself. Work is undertaken from anywhere in the U.K
